MailArchiver and SQL Log Files

Status: offline 		I keep around 3 years worth of mail archives, but close them out quarterly.  I have noticed that my MDF files are around 5 GB, but my log files for each database is around 15 GB.  Is a need to keep the LDF files or can I at least size them down if I need to keep them.  Since the old databases are closed out I can't see why I would need them, but also wasn't sure if SQL Server would miss them.

I'd recommend taking a look at http://sqlserver2000.databases.aspfaq.com/how-do-i-reclaim-space-in-sql-server.html as it goes over several ways to reduce the size of the LDF files.
