Hi! I've got a little problem with MailArchiver version 4. Database, index, etc. works all fine (for 1 and 1/2 year), but since last reboot newer (year 2008) emails are not avalabile in the search-tool (by webbrowser). But these emails, stored in the database, are visible at the overview. I need access to that mails by the search-tool, what's the problem?? Please help me! Thanx in advance! ;) PS: Excuse my bad english...

Ruinenbaumeister, If you go to archive stores and view the statistics on the database in question do the amount of emails in the database match the amount of indexed emails?

I have the same problem. I "auto roll" databases every quarter to try and keep their size down and in the 3rd 1/4 of this year (July 1 to Sept 30 -- our current 1/4) it looks like we stopped indexing around July 29th. I am showing 253,056 e-mails in the store but only 209,353 are indexed. Here is where it gets really interesting, I (reluctantly) told GFI to rebuild the index for the 3rd 1/4 and went back 20 minutes later to check the progress and the number of indexed e-mails has remained the same. The Search Index Management Page shows that the 3rd 1/4 database index is "rebuilding". I should also note that we have found that we have to reboot our servers nightly in order to make searching bearable, so a reboot of the box is not helping the indexing situation. Anyone have any thoughts? Brian

Brian, What build of GFI MailArchiver are you running? We have drastically improved the indexing in GFI MailArchiver 5 SR1.

20071109 marc5 But if the upgrade is anything like the upgrade from 4 to 5 I won't touch it with a ten foot pole! After we upgraded our users had no search capabilities for around 2 months while we went through indexing hell. If I were to subject our 500 users to that again I would likely loose my job. Brian

Brian, I can't vouch for all build upgrades but the times I have helped users through these it has been a very smooth process. The indexing in build 20071109 is quite a slow process and has been greatly improved in the new build, which is the SR1 release.
