MailArchiver Problem - 4.Aug.2008 1:25:44 PM

I have a strange problem I need help with. A few months ago I installed the evaluation version & got it running. I worked out a way to get it to not archive my spam, which I posted in a separate thread. The evaluation license expired, so it stopped archiving while I work with the program, continuing our evaluation. We finally decided to purchase, and I have obtained the license keys.

But now I have a problem with the mailbox I configured Exchange to journal to (which I named Archive)...apparently Exchange kept journalling to this mailbox, which now has more than 250,000 items. I just get an hourglass when I try to open it in Outlook. I can access it in OWA -- it is filled with spam.

I'm afraid if I activate the MailArchiver license, it's going to start archiving these emails and who knows how long that will take or what impact it will have on Exchange performance. I'm also not at all confident that my earlier configuration that seemed to prevent spam from being archived will work -- will I end up filling the archive up with all this spam, or will it still be able to figure out not to archive the spam?

I would be happy to just consider the last two months of email just lost, but I'm not sure of a safe or efficient way to empty this mailbox.

Would the best approach be to simply delete this mailbox, then create a new one and reconfigure the "Archive all messages..." setting on the mail store?

Thanks,

--Doug

Doug,

If you do not care about the messages in the store the easiest route would be to delete the journal mailbox and start over.
