I have been attempting to install latest ME12 x64 on Server2008 x64 RC with Exchange2007 SP1. Each time, the install fails and tells me that "Exchange Server MAPI Client and Data Access Components 1.2.1" is not installed. However, it is installed already. Anyone seen this problem before?

Ah! Thank you! Disappointing, but that would explain all the frustration I'm having in trying to install it. The MS Server 2008 launch is this month. Any guess when support could be expected?

I would love to find out when it will be supported on Windows 2008 as well. I am configuring a new Windows 2008 server running Exchange 2007 SP1 this month.

Hello Pskeem, Unfortunately I can't give you any dates but we are working hard to get a MailEssentials release with Windows Server 2008 support on the shelf soon. Please keep a close eye on http://forums.gfi.com/Version_and_Build_Information/m_900727094/tm.htm. This thread will be updated as soon as we release a new Version/Service Release. Kind regards,

Tough part for me is that I already have Windows 2008 running with Exchange 2007 SP1 on it. I'm stuck running the old Exchange 2000 server we are getting rid of, just to keep the mail routing through it so we can still use MailEssentials. If anyone at GFI reads this, even a rough date for a version that will run on Windows 2008 would be appreciated. I would hate to stop using MailEssentials, it works great for us, but I can't wait forever.

I'm waiting for this as well, fairly sure I read that an update was due in "Q2" of this year, so it already seems to be falling behind. I have been looking around and the only software that seems compatible with Server 2008 and Exchange 2007 is Microsoft's own Forefront, so it doesn't seem to be a problem just with GFI being slower then anyone else. I don't know if the delays are because Microsoft have made such a big change or if companys such as GFI just don't think there is enough demand for Server 2008 compatibility? Just for intrest, you can get ME12 to install on Windows Server 2008 if you first install a copy of Office 12/2007 on the Windows Server, but although it installs and displays the number of recived emails (connecting at least,) it doesn't seem to do anything with them.

You would think software developers in general would embrace early forward compatibility. This would ultimately give them a greater market share, perhaps winning over the customers of the competitor that doesn't yet have a compatible product. And its not like no one knew this was coming or couldn't prepare. Server 2008 Beta 1 was released in 2005!!!
