Hello all, We have one machine with Exchange 2003 SP2 on Win2003 and a second machine with SQL2005 SP2 + MA6 (new build on eval with no previous) on Win2003. All on one AD domain. The mailbox sync doesn't sync all the users folders, only when new mail is moved (manually or by rule) to a folder will that folder be created with just that one email in it. As it's on test I've built the system twice, first time using the main Administrator acc for the sync role and the second using specific acc created for the sync which has rights to the mailboxes as per the manual. From reading the forum posts it has write access to the MA6 machine and I have now added it to domain admins. I has also created the UMPollCook file for each mailbox. what is failedNew.log ? and should it be 42,108Kb. a single line from the log is below; 7ba00be2601e204fbd14883addf75f91 : <4E7BC3FFB29DEA4B8F758D21D1610E1418DEAC@pdc.ABLEINST.local> , 4E7BC3FFB29DEA4B8F758D21D1610E1400000018E0B0 , S_7ba00be2601e204fbd14883addf75f91 , 8DD10BC5EDCD2208C8C397366DE21950C1B7682827BF2B394E67F40C7E052427 Any ideas please?

please use the EmailHashGenerator (found in MA6 directory) utility to generate the hashes for the emails which existed prior to install GFI MailArchiver 6. after this delete the UMPollCook files the failedNew.log means that the User Mailbox Synchronization did not manage to match the items most probably due to the fact that the Hashes were not generated.

the hashgen return 'no emails found for hash generation'. is this because it's a new build rather than an upgrade? So far it's about half way through recreating the umpoll files but there is no change to the test accounts that it's done and the failnew.log is growing. Richard.

GFI MailArchiver 6 will archive emails found in the Journalling Mailbox (as it used to in previous versions) the Mailbox Synchronization will only match such emails, assigning to each the appropriate folder in which the email resides. regarding your post are new emails placed in the correct folder? or does the Exchange Mailboxes contain only new emails since GFI MailArchiver 6 was installed?

well i've never used previous versions so after a rebuild, things were going a bit strange with permissions (basically never touch them once the system is installed or it stops working), I'm back to where I was. The umpoll files have been created and so has a 42mb error log. as NEW emails arrive and are moved in to a sub-folder then that sub-folder will be created, fine. questions, what is this error log reporting? is the mailbox sync able to mirror what is in a users mailbox, even that are in the mailbox before MA was setup? if it can't sync the existing contents, are sub-folders created when a pst is imported? thanks, richard.

the errorlog contains entries of emails which failed to be matched from the existing items in the Exchange Server mailbox to the MailArchiver 6 Archive Store. From what i understood such emails failed to be matched since they don't exist in GFI MailArchiver 6 Archive Store. The mailbox synchronization only mirrors operations on the emails (such as moves) but not the actual emails creation/deletion. (you need to use eewiz to extract emails from the Exchange Server) Folders found in PST files are not persisted in GFI MailArchiver. You need to place them in the Exchange Mailbox then let the synchronization collect them from there. hope this clarifies your questions

delete the umpoll file for that particular mailbox. It will be created again some time after, then give it a couple of minutes and you should see the same structure in GFI MailArchiver

the synchronization only synchronizes the structure found on Exchange Server. The sturcture on a PST file is not preserved. A workaround would be to put these emails back on exchange in their respective folders and then let the synchronization place them in the correct folder.

OK.. I have a similar question going on right now in a nother post.. exactly the same.. but "different" http://forums.gfi.com/Folders_from_PST/m_900768148/tm.htm There has been a feature request made from my question, about PST and folders so lets hope it sticks.. obviously this is important.. I would like to address something above though.. if it is a new install of MARC6, as mine is as well, do I need to run the hash enerator.. I have not installed 5.. 6 is the first version??
