I have to say this was a feature I have had users asking for but I do have a question. How does it work? Yeah I know very vague. Let me drill that down a bit. MA grabs the email from the archive/audit email account on the exchange server. Then indexes it and drops it into the SQL server. I have to assume the Outlook Connector then tells MA where the user filed the email (if say they moved it from their inbox to a sub folder of the inbox). If I am on the right track with this then the next question would be. What if the user moves it a second time? If the user eventually deletes the message from his inbox subfolder where would MA move it or would the connector ignore that "final" move. Does any of this make sense?? hehehe Thanks...

Hi so here is how GFI MailArchiver 6 works in some few words: 1. A new email arrives to UserX and is delivered to the Journalling Mailbox 2. GFI MailArchiver DataSources collects the email from the Journalling Mailbox and stores it in the GFI MailArchiver Store (SQL Server/Firebird) 3. Some time later the GFI MailArchiver User Mailbox Synchronization Agent will visit the UserX's mailbox. It will detect the new email and any changes from it's previous visits. Such changes will be pass on the GFI MailArchiver Store. 4. GFI MailArchiver User Mailbox Synchronization Agent will keep on visiting UserX's mailbox and detect any changes that subsequently happen to the emails (passing such updates to GFI MailArchiver Store). 5. GFI MailArchiver 6 Outlook Connector will reflect the changes once they are available to Microsoft Outlook. hope this helps and gives a more clear picture

Thanks Ian that does help. The last question I would have is what does MA6 do with with the message once the user deletes it or the auto archiver removes it? Does the message stay in the last know location (so to speak) or does it relocate or remove. Thanks...

Hi, GFI MailArchiver is read-only and messages are never deleted (if not through company retention policies). When a user deletes a message from the mailbox it will remain in the last known location. The same applies to folders. If a folder is deleted from the user mailbox, it will still be visible in GFI MailArchiver. If after deleting the folder a new folder is created with the same name, GFI MailArchiver will merge the two folders. That is, when the user clicks on the folder, he/she will see all the old emails and new emails. Thanks for choosing GFI MailArchiver. Kind regards, Joseph D'Emanuele GFI Software Ltd.

Thanks Joseph! Sounds well thought out and pretty much what I thought you would have to do. Look forward to rolling that out in the next few weeks! Chad...

Hi Another question.. If I have an offline PST folder and have a rule (client side) to move certain items into this PST folders, in which folder does MARC show this item?

Hi, GFI MailArchiver will show these messages in the Inbox folder (given that you applied the client side rule at the receiving end). Thanks and kind regards, Joseph D'Emanuele GFI Software Ltd
