Received this message from the MailArchiver server:

GFI MailArchiver failed to transfer the archived emails into the backend database.

The following error message was reported:
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

Regards,
GFI MailArchiver

Checked the event logs on both the MA server and the SQL backend server and could not find anything in the event logs to correspond to this.  MA is working fine now so it appears it was an isolated incident.  My question is does MA have built-in fail safes to prevent messages from being lost in the event of communications failures with the backend server?

I'd like to know as well.

I am planning to take the backend SQL server offline for maintenance (1-3 hours) and was wondering if I should be shutting down the GFI Archiver during that period to ensure nothing is lost.

Power,

If you are going to take the database offline for a few hours I would recommend turning off polling in the Mail Servers To Archive node of GFI MailArchiver just to be on the safe side.

RGagne,

What time did you receive the message you posted?  Has this happened more than once?  If so, how often is this happening?
