I'm currently running lastest LNSS 8 version and the scanning on my Vista Business PC is good. The scan indicates that missing patches and when I click download file, there's an attempt to download and the final status show 'failed to download'. I've tried the scan and download a couple of time but with the same result. GFI care to explain?
I managed to overcome the download by manually and individually clicking the "Open web location"  to download. As you may aware, the downloaded file is in the MS format and LNSS can't recognise it. I cut the non-understandable word and paste it at the front of the file object as in LNSS-recognise format. With that, I refreshed the status and all the patches are recognised as downloaded. GFI comment?

Hi shchua,

Can you please ensure that you are using the latest build of LANguard NSS 8? You can confirm this from LANguard N.S.S. -> Help (menu) -> About. This will list the version and the build number. The latest build is 20070525. This build does have an issue addressed where the proxy server was not being correctly detected by previous builds.

More information on the latest build can found at http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID003088

Hi Nicks,

I'm back again with the same problem. At the deployment stage, the State of my downloads shows "failed to download". I'm on Version 8.0 Build 20070525.
Scanning PC is WinXP SP2. Scanned PCs are WinXP SP2 and Vista Business.
Note: I do not have problem running "Check for Updates..." in "Program Updates". That is, no problem accessing the Internet using LNSS.
Sidetrack: Can LNSS 8.0 be installed on Vista?

Tks.

This issue was caused due to the patch repository being a UNC path rather then a local folder. To change you patch repository in LNSS 8.0, please perform the following:

a) Open your LNSS Configuration
b) Click on the Configuration Tab > Patch AutoDownload > Properties
c) Click on the Patch Repository Tab

Thank you

Hi Mark,
Your email suggestion to change the credential used by LNSS Attendant Service from Local System Account to a domain account that can access the UNC Path works.
Pardon my ignorance.
Thanks for the patience.

Cheers,
