I have an entire group of users that have their accounts on our domain forwarded to AOL,hotmail, etc. If I enable bayesian and new senders to place mail within their junk-email folders, what will happen? From searching it appears the emails would get forwarded. This poses a concern if they have AOL and submit my domain as a spam sender. If it doesnt get forward this is also a concern since they might have legitimate mail. What is a good balance for this issue? Thanks

Hello caswinans, The best option for such a scenario is to tag email as spam. If you decide to move to Junk E-mail, these will be forwarded. Could you clarify about : "This poses a concern if they have AOL and submit my domain as a spam sender" ? Regards

Hello caswinans, If the message that is received in the AOL or Hotmail account indeed appears to be coming from your domain they indeed might consider you as a spammer. I would advise you to have a look at the Internet Header of such a message. If your IP address is in the Internet Header (most likely) they might add it to a DNS Blacklist. Probably the best thing to do is to is to make sure no e-mail that was detected as spam by MailEssentials will be forwarded to AOL/Hotmail. Can you let me know how you are exactly forwarding the e-mails? Is this done via a Policy you configured on your mail server? Kind regards,

I believe that f you use the Move facility within ME, then it does not forward. However, if you use the Rules Manager to create a rule, then it probably will get forwarded, as the mail hits the Inbox before moving to Junk E-Mail.

when you refer to Rules Manager your talking about the exchange utility right? If I use the rules manager then I believe I have to first tag the messages so it knows what to move, right? Thanks

No, the GFI utility. But using this might get the emails forwarded.

caswinans, Any message that gets delivered to Exchange to be routed will be forwarded. If you use the "Move to subfolder of user's mailbox" feature in GFI MailEssentials 12 these items will not be forwarded as they are not routed by Exchange.
