Recently I was having some weird issues showing up in my SBS 2003 SP2 events log, and I installed the trial version of Events Manager in the hope it would help me sort the problems out.

It's a nice program, but it didn't help much, and I'd like to remove it from my already-overloaded server.

There's no entry in Add/Remove Programs. There's no link to an uninstall utility. There's nothing that looks like an uninstall program in the Events Manager directory. There's no mention of uninstallation (other than "you don't need to uninstall/reinstall when upgrading from the trial version") in any documentation I can find. I'm not really excited by the prospect of manually cleaning out the registry and getting rid of the service and what-not.

Officially from the technical support department, my first recommendation would agree with imatone's.
  • Does re-installing the software allow you to remove it from add/remove programs?
  • Did a recent attempt to uninstall the product from add/remove programs fail?
  • If so, do you still see the GFI EventsManager service listed?
  • If it is listed, can you change the properties from automatic to manual and applying the settings without getting an error message?
