Good Evening folks,

Looking for a little advice on the GFI archvier for exchange product. I have setup a new installation of the GFI archiver on an exchange server and created 5 stores(pre2005,2005,2006,2007,2008) , the archiver is current configured to archive to the 2008 stores which is working great. THere are roughly 350k old emails that i need to import into the respective stores. I have configured the import service with each store and its date range.

I then used the GFI exchange export tool to import the email from the current users to the pickup folder where it should go into the relevant store. So i started this process.

On returning to check on it the summary windows shows it imported 117K emails and skipped around 250k emails.

The import service was configured as follows:

Pre2005 : jan1 1999 - 31 dec 2004
2005: jan1 2005 - dec 31 2005
2006: jan1 2006 - dec 31 2006
2007: jan1 2007 - dec 31 2007
2008: jan1 2008 - jun1 2008

The unclassified folder is empty.

Any reason why it appears to have skipped over 250k emails?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks again.

mocd,

Have you ever ran the import against these mailboxes before?

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply, the answer to your question is yes a previous attempt was originally made to import the email into one archive store but it became apparent that it would be better to use multiple stores so this was cancelled and the multiple stored were set up.

mocd,

That is the reason these messages are being skipped.  When the messages are imported via EEWIZ there is a flag that is placed on the message so the message will be skipped if the import is ran again.  If you open a command prompt and navigate to ..\Program Files\GFI\MailArchiver\eewiz and run eewiz.exe with a /iepf switch it will ignore that processed flag.  Please note that if you are importing these messages into an existing database this can cause duplicate messages to appear.

Hi John,

I used the eewiz.exe /iepf and I define the cut-off date and time say Jul 8, 2008 4:59:59PM. When I checked the Unclassified folder I noticed some emails that are in the present days/dates. In order for me to continue the export process I want to clear up tis folder.

My question is, is it safe to delete those entries/emails under Unclassified with present dates? Are those emails that I saw in Unclassified folder were already archived?

Please advise.

Deriuz,

The messages you are seeing in the Unclassified folder are there as a result of the Import Service Configuration not having databases to archive them into based on the date ranges configured.  What date ranges do you have configured in your Import Service Configuration?
