Hi, At the moment, Faxmaker ist installed at the same machine as the Exchange-Server. Now, we want to convert the Exchange-Machine to a virtual Machine (VWware ESX). The ISDN-device will stay in a physical box, we want to install a new, separate FAS-Server - so we have to change our configuration to a split-configuration: Exchange-Server: virtual machine Fax-Server: physical box How can we do this? Can I just uninstall FAX-Server at the Exchange? Can I export the configuration? (Fax-Server v10, Exchange 2003) C.

You cannot do this. You need to have GFI FAXmaker installed on the same box where your hardware resides, however, it does not need to be installed on the same machine as your Exchange. Hardware in a VM environment will not be supported, but you can use a software application (such as Dialogic's SR140) in conjunction with GFI FAXmaker if you intend to implement in a Virtual Environment.

Thank You for Your reply. Ok. I have to setup a separate (hardware-) server, where the isdn-device resides. The exchange-server will be converted to a virtual machine. Are the following Steps ok?: 1. Uninstall FAX-Maker from exchange-server, Uninstall ISDN-Device 2. Setup a new physical machine (XP / Server 2003), Install the ISDN-Device 3. Setup Fax-Maker at the new machine 4. Setup Exchange-Connector at the Exchange Can I export my old configuration (routings, numbers, etc.) ? What about my clients - do I have to change anything there?

Your order of operations sound correct. In regards to the other questions you had, you may need to just copy your .fst files located in the Faxmaker directory to your other machine after installing GFI FAXmaker. Keep in mind that GFI FAXmaker 10 is very dated, so you may just need to update the clients to the have the proper SMTP settings.
