One of my users is being inundated with German language spam. And it just so happens that user is the President of our company. The character set is Windows-1252, so Header Checking wouldn't affect this. I've tried adding oft-used keywords like "angebot" and "chefsessel", but MailEssentials, for some reason, simply ignores these entries, and lets the spam right on through. What can be done to stop Der Garbage Streamen?

rhyno, Does your company deal with German language messages on a day to day basis? If not you can use Header Checking > Langauge Options to cut these types of messages out.

I've gone into Header Checking > Language Options and allowed only Western Europe & US. Even with this on, and specific keyword blocking of the usual suspects like angebot, chefsessel, direktimporte, etc. etc., it has had no effect on the German Spam -- our President is still getting deluged with this crap. It's gotten so bad, he's just commissioned a search for alternative spam-fighting software / appliances.

If you are putting these words in keyword checking and the emails with this content are not blocked, it may be possible that these messages are being let through due to the whitelist. Are the senders of these spam messages spoofed or coming from domains of your whitelist? Also it would be a good idea to open the GFI Monitor and check to make sure you see mail flowing through this and that each message is getting processed ok.

I'm getting the same thing with German spam as well as Russian spam. This is unacceptable and I am catching the heat for it! I have it set to it's supposed to block all except US/Western EU. Help!

Well, I'm getting Japanese looking spam yet they're still coming through. Each of them has a Japanese character based word document attached to the email and I can't block them either. It's getting really really annoying. I've offered to submit the emails to someone to analyze and figure out a way to block them and noone seems interested. Yes.. we've begun to look for secondary or replacement spam systems as well.
