Hi I am evaluating an evaluation version of GFI Network Server Monitor. The problem is that I can check the ICMP, disc space, but I get errors when I check the CPU usage and Physical disc conditions. I ran this comand line on the machine where NSM is installed wmic /USER:<username> /password: <password> /node:<ip address of the machine being monitored> path win32_processor
and got this error
ERROR: Code = 0x80070005 Description = Access is denied. Facility = Win32

Hi,
You have an access denied error there. Did you provide correct user name and password, with enough rights to access WMI on the remote machine?
Best regards, Calin

Ok, I see
The two checks you mentioned do not work in the same way. Disk space check does not use WMI, and the CPU usage check uses WMI.
Since first works but the second does not, it is a WMI connection issue. The credentials you have supplied might have enough rights for you to connect and get the disk space, however might not be enough, or addidional configurations may be required in order to be able to connect to the WMI on that computer.
In order to troubleshoot WMI related issues please follow the below procedure:
On the machine on which NSM is installed
- run -> type mmc -> File -> add/remove snapin-> add - in the dialog that appears choose WMI control -> click Add - in the next dialog enter the name of the computer you are trying to monitor with NSM. - in the same dialog click the Change button and enter the credentials youu are using for the NSM CPU usage check. - click finish -> click close -> click OK. - right click the WMI Controrl (computername) node and choose properties.
A new dialog will appear. If you have information there, the connection was ok, else you will be shown an error message in that dialog. Please post the error message with details about both the computer running NSM, and the target computer. Also post information about if they are in the same domain or not, and the credentials you are using (are they set as alternate, or the service is running under them)
Best regards, Calin

The monitored machine is Windows 2003 SP1. The machine where NSM is installed is WinXP SP2. Both machines are in the same domain. The service is running and the Domain administrator credentials.

Hi,
Can you please please run the script in http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID002342?
It enables WMI administration on the machine, apart from the firewall related part.
Get back to us after doing so.
Also, are you using NSM 6 or NSM 7? Anyway, can you check if you have the latest build?
Note: SP1 for Windows Server 2003/SP2 for XP, do nt just add the firewall functionallity. There are important changes in DCOM security also.
Regarding searching on forums, kbase, etc: help here and a solution, may arrive later than it would if you try to research the problem a bit on your own. Now I am not saying that you did not , nor do I mean any offenses, the post is here to be read by other people also, it is not a private thing adressed to you.
The problem is not in NSM, but it is a configuration issue.
For examle, this MS articele found by doing a google search on WMI Access denied can be a starting point.

ok,
Where did you run the script? On which computer?
Also, what user are you using for the connection? Are the computers part of the domain?
Best regards, Calin

This link helped me: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/resources/wmifaq.mspx
Follow these steps to troubleshoot WMI problems with the WMI service:
1. If you are having trouble connecting to a remote computer, try the script on the local computer. 2. Restart the WMI service. 3. Rebuild the WMI repository. 4. Re-register all the WMI Components. 5. Reinstall the operating system. 6. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services.
