Hello,

The GFI NSM service refuse to autostart after a reboot. I need to start it manually.
Event logs id 7009/7010 with source Service Control Manager.

"The GFI Network Server Monitor 7.0 engine service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
"

Any hints ?
Thanks in advance.

is the service running as localsystem or as a specific account?
is the account expired? password changed? locked out?
is this account admin of NSM server?

Hello,

We're having the exact same problem for two weeks now.

All GFI services are running with domain admin account, not local.

I don't know what you mean by "is this account admin of NSM server" though... How do I check this ?

Also, I excluded GFI folders from our antivirus realtime scanner (eTrust ITM).

Thanks for your help.

PJ

EDIT : don't know if this helps but I just discovered that the folder C:\Program Files\GFI\Network Server Monitor 7\TEMP is full of log files : 235 500 files !! But logging is not enabled...

Each file just says "TRUE". May I deleted and disable those ?

Hello pjgfi,

Just to tell you that we've nerver found a solution to this issue even with the support's help.
Services still refused to start in automatic.

Too much time has been spent on this issu so we decided to reinstall GFI NSM on an another server and everything is now fine.

Sorry but can't I help you more.

Good luck.

Well, thanks anyway Guesss...

Let's hope it's the same problem with a different cause

BTW, do you have this TEMP folder full of files as well ?

Can the support tell me if I can delete them safely and why they appear in the first place ?

I hope the service has somehow to scan this folder when it starts and so fails because it takes too long...

Pjgfi

Hmmm, sorry but I did not remember if my GFI's temp folder was full of files...
GFI's support did not notice that point, so I don't think it was my case.
