Dear Support,

I have downloaded your trial version and installed on my OS Server 2003 with Exchange Server 2007.

After installation, nothing worked. I have set the desired domain under general node, tried to blacklist my own gmail account but still spam getting through, the most irritating part is that dashboard does not show anything at all.

Tried to send a test email with the subject 100% free and it got through without being tag as SPAM.
Check the header and found this:
x-gfi-smtp-submission: 1
x-gfi-smtp-hellodomain: wf-out-1314.google.com
x-gfi-smtp-remoteip: 209.85.200.171

This is my mail server background installed with GFI mailessential:
Server IP is on NAT (directly communicate with internet, not a perimeter SMTP server)
Exh 2007 host several domains. (only inserted 1 under inbound emails domain)

Please help as I followed the getting started manual, KB, forums, run the post installation wizard and even installed v12 but none work.

Read on the net and seems mailessential is good and easy to install, but I guess not :(

Regards,
David

One more thing to add, I notice that all inbound and outbound mails are stored on the FailedMailsfolder, and in just 2 days, the folder had accumulate 500MB in size. Why is this happen so?

Regards,
David

zypoh,

What do you see in the GFI MailEssentials Dashboard? Are emails passing through the Dashboard? If yes, are they are processing successfully?

Also, which version and biuld of GFI MailEssentials are you running?

Do you have GFI MailSecurity in your organization?

Regards,
Ben Vincenti

Hi Ben,

The dashboard is empty and nothing seems to be processing.

I'm using the GFI MailEssentials 14 build 20090408

Not using GFI MailSecurity.

Regards,
David

Are the GFI services all running?

You mention that you're running Exchange Server 2007 - I take it you've installed the 64-bit of MailEssentials?

Yes, all of the services are running. Restarted several times but still nothing show up.

Yup installed the x64 version.

I receive this in the error log:
"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8021"

I have tried to shutdown my antivirus and firewall, restarted the GFI services but still now working.
Any idea?

One of the services tries to register on port 8021. Perhaps it's already used. Check with tcpview from sysinternals. And take a look at your local firewall config.

If I remember correctly, if the port isn't available when it's installed, it doesn't work correctly. Free up the port, then reinstall.

yes, I have check that the port 8021 is free.

The first command was entered before the GFI mailessentials services is started.
The second command was entered after the services is started.

C:\Documents and Settings>netstat -ano | findstr 0.0:8021

C:\Documents and Settings>netstat -ano | findstr 0.0:8021
TCP    0.0.0.0:8021           0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING       10592

C:\Documents and Settings>

The PID 10592 is refering to contentsecurity.as.attendant.exe*32

I have did reinstallation twice and still same issue.

The server is behind a firewall, not on the local system. The local system firewall and antivirus have been shutdown for test. Still no avail..

Dear all,

Was so happy that finally I got the dashboard working! All came down to a simple solution...restarting the server...
Wish I have done that the first place...
