It looks like we have an issue with the emails in the legitimate folder being processed. Is there a way to make these emails go through processing? I had a complaint this morning from somebody who has been dragging legitimate emails to this folder with no luck. The emails are still going into his spam folder. We are running GFI MailEssentials 12 build 20080326.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

What type of messages are you seeing in this folder?  Are these messages to or from local users?  If you go into the processed folder what is the latest message you see here?

Hi John,

There appears to be some spam email in this folder. These emails are from the outside , and I don't see anything in the processed folder. I really appreciate all your help.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

How are you connecting to these folders?  If you go to GFI MailEssentials Configuration > Anti-Spam > Properties > Public Folder Scanning you can see this information.  A side note, when you are looking at the Public Folder Scanning tab please make sure that this is enabled.  I have seen this cause these issues in the past and do not want to overlook this.

The "Enable Public Folder Scanning" is indeed checked. It looks like it is set to Poll public folders via WebDav. Thanks for the fast reply.

Check you don't have these folders mail-enabled, as I've seen the processing stall if they're receiving spam directly.

Dragging to the Legitimate folder only trains the Bayesian filter to not mark them as spam. If another filter is still catching them, this is the culprit. You may have better luck using the Add to Whitelist folder instead, but this is a bit of a sledge-hammer!

I've not tried WebDAV, but MAPI seems to work well.

Speaking of AntiSpam folders...is there any problem by putting age limits on all the folders or does GFI need to keep what gets moved into the processed folder?

Ytsejamer1,

GFI MailEssentials does not need any messages in the processed folder.  You can read more about automatically clearing these folders at http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID002587.
