We currently have 2 fax servers (one running version 12 and the other running version 14.3).  I am currently testing the server using the latest version before we turn it live, but I am running into a font issue.  We are using textapi to copy a text file from a shared location and have the fax do the faxing using a coverpage.  When I do the test on the server running version 12 of the software, it gives me one result, and when I use the server running version 14.3 of the software it gives me a different result.  Also, I am using the same test (txt) file on both server.  We want to use the font that the server running version 12 has.  We even copied the textapi.htm and the textapi.rtf from the server running version 12 and copied to the other one, but that did not made any difference.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rodney Gonzalez

Hello Max,

The issue is this.  We got 2 servers, one running Faxmaker version 12 and the other running version 14.3.  We have a test file that we use for testing "FAXTEST31.txt" and an another file that is the attachment that goes as the body of the file "ATTACH1.TXT".  When we use this files from the server running version 12, the body of the message comes in one font (e.g Courier New size 11), but when we try it on version 14.3 (same files using the same procedure), the body of the message comes in a different font (e.g Lucida size 11).  We have compared all the settings between both servers and they are exactly the same, still when the faxes are sent, we get the fonts being different.  Not sure were else to look to make this change.  Let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks,
Rodney Gonzalez

Hi,

I understand now. The font has been changed to Lucida in the textapi.htm coverpage as part of Unicode support introduction in GFI FAXmaker 14.2. With Courier New certain Unicode characters were being displayed incorrectly, so we had to change it. You can edit textapi.htm in the Faxmaker\coverpge folder to change the font to Courier New if you're not affected by the issue of characters not being displayed correctly.

Max, Thanks for your reply.

This changes was already done, but the issue is still occurring.  I have verified again that the change is still there, but the faxes are still displaying different fonts on both servers.  I have also restarted the Faxserver services to see if it would pick up the changes, but still no luck.  Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Rodney Gonzalez.

Hi,

The issue is most likely because you're using .rtf coverpage rather than .htm. The RTF renderer internally uses Lucida font. Can you try using .htm coverpage instead ?

Sorry for not getting back any sooner.  Have been busy working on other problems.  For some reason can't seem to be able to post a screenshot.  If you point me in the correct way to do this, I should be able to put it here.  Let me know.

Thanks,
Rodney Gonzalez

Hi,

Can you tell me which coverpage is listed under "Format text using coverpage" drop-down box on the TextAPI tab ?

Hi,

Let me just clarify a bit. You are using a .txt attachment in your test and it is the attachment that gets rendered in Lucida font, correct ?

Hello.

That is correct, the attachement once is sent as a fax, it is rendered in Lucida font instead of Courier New, as stated on the textapi.htm file.

Hi,

The coverpage ( textapi.htm ) is used only to render the body of the fax, any attachments are rendered as is and font being used is currently set to Lucida and cannot be changed. Can you elaborate a bit on how this font issue impacts you ?

Sorry, I guess I am not using the correct wording for it.  What I mean by attachment, is the text that is rendered in the body of the message.  Sorry if I have guided you in the wrong direction.  As I look at the textapi.htm file it states that the body of the fax or message will be rendered in Courier New:

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=Windows-1252">
<title>FAX TRANSMISSION</title>
</head>
<body>
<p><font face="Arial" style="font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 700">FAX TRANSMISSION</font></p>
<p><font face="Courier New" size="2">[message]</font></p>
</body>
</html>

But when I look at the file faxed, the font is not New Courier.  The reason why we want to have it be Courier new is because the Lucida font messes with the formating of the information we are sending to customers.  I want to get this fixed so that I can transfer the faxing to this new server so that we can upgrade the old server.

Thanks,
Rodney Gonzalez
