We are having many problems with certain email attachments being blocked as they apparently contain blocked words. However, these word are not part of the email but form part of the code within the attachment that by pure chance have a bad word in them. For example "eio58urjjnf9ujTIT98ujd". This is obviously not anything malicious where the email or attachment is concerned yet MailSecurity is blocking these emails as harmful.

Can this problem be looked into or has anyone else experienced this issue and already has a workaround?

Thanks

Hi benjsmyth, there is an option to scan attachments with the filtering rule, ensure that it is off.

Content Filtering> Choose Rule> Body> 'Apply above conditions to attachments'

Regards

Thanks for the reply.

I'm a bit confused. Would that basically turn off the feature?

Thanks

Hi benjsmith

That will turn off the content-checking in the email attachments only, but will retain content-checking for that rule on the email body.

You can also try to ensure that the "Match whole words only" option is turned on (i.e. Content Filtering> Choose Rule> Body>"Match whole words only"). For the example you quoted, i think this should solve the problem for you.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Christopher,

We have the "Match whole words only" option turned on already and it still picks up these as problems.

We would be grateful if we could have a ticket opened for this issue as we have exhausted any options within the program itself.

Thanks

Ben
