Hello, We've just installed an evaluation version of GFI Faxmaker. Installed IIS on the same machine with the smtp services. We made sure that emails send to our "faxdomain" (faxnumber@faxdomain) are forwarded to the smtp service on the gfi faxmaker server , where we can see that the emails are being placed in the inetpub\mailroot\drop folder. The faxmaker software does not pick up those emails/faxes for further processing. We are able to recieve faxes sent from outside to this machine running sink_register_cmd did not work We do not use exchange , and we do not use POP3 functionality. How can we get faxmaker to send those faxes ? Is pop3 mandatory for faxmaker to work ? Any ideas ? Greetings Marc

Hi, When you say "faxdomain" are you referring to your local SMTP domain ? Normally in the setups you describe you'd have to send faxes to faxnumber@faxmaker.com. In your case ( since you're using your local SMTP domain ) the SMTP sink of FAXmaker does not recognize the address and therefore skips it, which eventually leads to the email being delivered to the Drop folder of IIS instead of the FAXmaker. You have to make sure that the smtp domain that you use has an alias in your IIS. ex. 032254875@fax123.local is your "to" in your mail client, then you must have an alias @fax123.local in your IIS. grtz, Koen

We still have the same problem, despite the possible solution(s) given. We have the right alias in the IIS SMTP server. Can I see, in any way, if the SMTP sink does the job right? Does the faxserver has to be in the same domain as the rest? We've tried to enter the machine to our domain, but that also didn't work. So, now this machine is a stand-alone one. E-mail is properly processed by our SMTP server (as they are dropped in the drop folder), but Faxmaker just doesn't pick them up. We are close to reinstalling, tried about everything we could think of. More help is greatly appreciated :) /edit Maybe relevant, the GFI software is installed on a Windows XP machine with IIS5.1 .

Koja, we did not see (or did not wanted to see ;) ) this information you've posted a few days earlier : extra info : IIS has a alias for espfax.local registry keys in HKLM\software\GFI Fax & voice\faxmaker\config domainfax is changed to espfax.local and also in sink the key domain is changed into espfax.local. have 2 ISDN (EICON server BRI) cards in the faxmaker machine. This did the trick! FAXMaker did not automatically changed the registry to our domain, despite the sink cmd we've ran. So, now we can continue with further configuration..thanks :)
