Recently users have been complaining of an unusually high number of handshaking 54 errors, of pages of garbled text being received by the other party and of multiple repeats of the same fax being sent to the same number (again after a handshaking error)

I have reading through various threads on this forum and would like to try the idea of using a previous driver version for my Brooktrout Trufax analog cards.  The only problem is...whenever I install the version 4.1.1 of the drivers, Faxmaker refuses to start up, it does not want to work with the 4.1.1 drivers.

Any ideas!!

Thank you

JP

What version of Faxmaker are you running?
If you open the add/remove programs, locate the brooktrout driver and tell what driver version you have installed.

This will determine which driver you will want to use.

Hi Joe,

We are running FM 12.0 build 20070131 and the Brooktrout drivers are version 5.1.0.

Ok lets try to install the latest driver that will work with FAxmaker12. (it is the driver released with FM14.0)

Please do this.  ( it will require a reboot)

Please stop the faxmaker services

*Back up the .\program files\GFI\FAxmaker\Brooktrout\Tr1034 folder.

* go to add/remove programs and uninstall the tr1034 BT driver

* open the device manager and if the card is still there please uninstall it  if not go to the next step

*open to ..\program files\gfi\faxmaker\brooktrout\               and delete the folder tr1034

* download this file ftp://ftp.gfiusa.com/Faxmaker/Brooktrout/Drivers/TR1034Brooktrout_TR1034_5.13_v14.zip

* please reboot the box. when it is back up.. please stop the faxmaker services again  (close out of any MS "found new hardware windows)

* then run the file we downloaded and go through the wizard.. then start your faxmaker services up again  (please reboot again if it asks)

* then check to see if your lines come back up.. let me know how this goes.

Hi Joe,

Sorry it took so long for me to answer.  I was on another job out of town.

I followed your instructions to the letter and now am faced with two other problems.

1 - when accessing FM configuration/Lines&Devices/properties i get this error message from FGWCONFG "Your license key is invalid. Please license Faxmaker"

Needless to say...my license IS valid.

2 - when I sent a test fax from my outgoing line to my incoming line I got a failure message "generic error" but the fax did succeed.

Any ideas?

Thanks

JP

Additional information which might be helpful.

I just sent test fax to one of my contacts and when monitoring the fax transmission with GFI FAXMAKER Monitor, I get a success status for the sent fax BUT when I look in the sendlog it shows the transmission as a failure and obviously the emailed fax confirmation also states that the transmission failed.

One of those things that makes you go "HMMMMM"

Hi,

Was there ever a satisfactory solution to this - I have been through exactly the same steps and have ended up with the same problem.

All help always appreciated.

Andy
