We've been running GFI Faxmaker 12 for years now and never had a hickup. Just recently though we've had half pages just not show up.  For instance a 6 page document will show 5 full pages and half of the last page.  Or there will be a 12 page document and only 4 pages will come though.

Any ideas on this?  To my knowledge we really haven't changed much.

Thanks.

Greg

hi Greg,

What is the exact model of the device this issue is occuring with?

Does this issue occur when receiving from all senders or from particular senders?

I have not seen any patterns as far as which people.  It seems like it can happen to anyone who faxes in.  They can send a bad fax, then fax it again and it faxes fine.

We are using Brooktrout TruFax 100 faxboards.

Can you please confirm if the Line which GFI Faxmaker is using is working correctly?

Is GFI FaxMaker behind a PABX?

Thank you!

How would you like me to confirm the line?  I put a standard analog phone on it and it sounds good.  We do have faxes come though successfully on it.

What method would you like me to use?

You are able to confirm with your TeleComs Company that the line is working correctly and no noise is found on the line.

Can you also please try and reproduce the issue using the Brooktrout Diagnostics which can be used to send / receive faxes. More information on this can be found at the following kbase article:

Thank you!

We have recently been experienced the same problem.  We have individuals reporting parts of faxes are being cut off.

One user reports they had 4 different individuals recently send her faxes and multiple pages show the top section of the pages were cut off.

All telco checks out and there is no discernible noise on the line.

It is very odd as we have never had any problems until recently.  Here is an example, someone might send a particular individual four or five pages of faxes.  In each case, all four or five pages would be cut off.  So it is not a case of just one page here or there cutting off.  Again, it is a random phenomena and is not happening all the time.  Weird glitch?  I rebooted the server to see if that does anything.  No word yet.

We're having similar issues as groggory and mharri - Has this been resolved?

I would appreciate if someone can post whatever solution was used to correct this problem.

Thanks!

I had my phone lines tested by the phone company and everything seemed clean.  However, faxes were still acting up.  I decided that there must be new high frequency noise on the line that would affect the digital fax signal, but not voice.  The phone company on guarantees analog lines for analog frequencies (~<15kHz).

As such, I had to get rid of my old brooktrout board and step up to a brooktrout board that had error correction (model TR114).  The reason I chose that board was because it was the best board that was still supported by my version of GFI.  If I stepped up to a newer model I would have had to buy the new version of GFI Faxmaker.

After that everything has been working fine.

Does your card have error correction on it?  You can do a bunch of tests via the tools on brooktrout's website.  Call them up, they are very helpful.  The tests will test sending, receiving, packet loss, etc.

Hi Groggory

Thanks for your reply. It's very helpful and was actually spot on.

I did an extensive troubleshooting on this for a month and tested 4 modems and 2 fax products on 3 machines all to no avail - just imagine the frustration. Compounding the problem is the fact that we can only test it on Mondays - don't ask why!

All the modems I used didn't have error correction. So I ended up getting a more intelligent Diva analog card and since then I have yet to see a cut off page.

All the best
