I have Mail Archiver 4 installed on a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Domain Controller. It has been working fine for over a year. I have not changed any settings. But suddenly, on April 21, it stopped archiving and now, when I try to get into the Mail Archiver Control Panel, I get the following error: Loading GFI MailArchiver Failed to authenticate. View details. GFI MailArchiver - Load Error Failed to authenticate (Error code: 4000). Details -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- System.Runtime.Remoting.RemotingException: Requested Service not found Server stack trace: at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.BinaryServerFormatterSink.ProcessMessage(IServerChannelSinkStack sinkStack, IMessage requestMsg, ITransportHeaders requestHeaders, Stream requestStream, IMessage& responseMsg, ITransportHeaders& responseHeaders, Stream& responseStream) Exception rethrown at [0]: at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg) at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type) at MArc.Ada.Security.AdaAuthentication.Authenticate() at MArc.Web.SecurityTest.AuthenticateUser(HttpContext context, WindowsIdentity wi) at MArc.Web.SecurityTest.ProcessTest(HttpContext context) What the heck is going on? I never had a problem before. I tried searching through the Knowledge Base and it sys: "This issue occurs when both GFI MailArchiver 4 build 20070616 or later and GFI WebMonitor 4 are installed on the same machine. Internally, both products make use of the same port (8017) for communication between the different modules." We do not have GFI WebMonitor software, so this advice is not applicable.

perform a netstat and see what program is using port 8017 and make sure it is a mail archiver process

According to Netstat, the only processes using Port 8017 are related to Mail Archiver. I also ran "What's Running", and the only connections it sees on 8017 are the ones related to Mail Archiver.
