We use FM 10.0 in conjuntion with Avaya Unified Messaging to route faxes (DID w/ DTMF). Sometimes the faxes that come in on the DID lines do not get routed to the person assigned to the DID and they end up in the admin mailbox. I would like to know if there are any detailed logs that indicate what digits that Fax Maker recieved on the DID/DTMF??? This would help me diagnose if this is a problem with the UM or with Fax Maker. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
While the FAX is being received, you can see the FAX number being forwarded to FAXmaker in the FAXmaker Monitor.
What is the model of the devie you are using with FAXmaker?

Thanks for your reply. I know that you can see the DID register in the faxmaker monitor. However, this is a intermitant problem that happens only a few times a day. I need some kind of log of the DIDs as they come in. We are using Brooktrout TR114 PCI 4 port analog board.

Hi,
You can enable debugging for the device from the FAXmaker server monitor, select the line on which your modem is connected to and click on the debug button on the toolbar or click 'line->debug mode' on the menu. The full path of the file created with the detailed logging will be displayed on the status window.

After reviewing the logs from a fax that was not routed to a user (sent to admin). This is what I see in the area where it should have picked up the DTMF.

GFI support did supply me with a modified fmbrkrt.fxd to fix a problem where GFI was not giving the UM enough time to give it all of the #s. Maybe there is something wrong with this file? Or, from looking at the log, is the UM not providing the DTMF at the right time? After reviewing the time it takes (fractions of a second) to pickup a DTMF properly I do not think that the section of the log file that did not work indicates that it was waiting too long. It matches up with the one that worked almost identically. Any input would be much appreciated.

This is the latest of the misroutes from today. It does not seem like there is any pattern to the misroutes.

STF,
Can you please send a set of troubleshooter files and a copy of these log files to support@gfi.com so we can check them out?
Kindly paste the url of this thread in the subject of the mail sent to us, so that you do not need to re-explain your query.

Just curious if you were able to get this working ever. I was having the exact same problem on our system. I tried with both brooktrout and intel dialogic analog boards on the um both with no luck. I sent out all of the log files to support and never heard anything back afterwards. You seem to be the only other person i've seen mention avaya so thought i'd see if you got it working.

Scamp,
Can you please explain how you are checking that the sender of the FAX is actually dialing the DTMF number?
Note that if the sender does not dial the DTMF number, then FAXmaker will not receive it.
Can you also inform me of the thread/thicket number you received for the mail sent to support?

I believe that is your tracking number. This was back in may I think. I know that the dtmf codes are being sent by connecting an analog phone in place of the modems and sending test calls. With unified messenger or modular messaging fax support the voicemail server rings the modems plays dtmf tones to give the extension and then connects the fax following the playing of the dtmf tones. The voicemail server always plays the tones as far as I can tell from my testing so it seems that the problems are coming from the modems not hearing the tones for whatever reason.
