Hi,
1. Ensure that the GFI MailSecurity Attendant service is started. This is required for the MailSecurity interface to load.
2. If you have installed MailSecurity on Windows 2003, can you check that ASP .NET is enabled from Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager -> Web Service Extensions?
Should the problem persist, Can you please run the troubleshooter and send me the files (zipped) which it generates? The troubleshooter can be found in the GFI\ContentSecurity\MailSecuirty\ directory as trouble.exe.
If the compressed files larger then 7mb or too large to be sent by email, please upload them to our ftp site using the following procedure:
FTP Server details:
Host: ftp://ftp.gfisoftware.com User: gfi Pass: gfi911cust (If using Internet Explorer use ftp://gfi:gfi911cust@ftp.gfisoftware.com)
a) Create a new folder on your machine and name it using either your ticket number or company name (e.g. domain.com)
b) Copy support.zip to the new directory.
c) Login to the FTP server.
d) Upload the directory with the troubleshooting files to the ftp server. NOTE: When the upload is finished, you will not be able to see the directory or the files. This is done to safeguard your privacy
e) Send me an email to confirm that the files have been uploaded and the name of the directory.
Please address your email to support@gfi.com
Thank you

One other possible cause for the problem you encountered - Are you trying to access the configuration from the same machine where MailSecurity is installed?
Also, did you specifiy the credentials of the user who installed MailSecurity? Do you get the same error if you so so?
Try also using credentials of a user who is local Administrator on the MailSecurity machine.
Let us know if the problem persists.

We are still checking further on this issue.
In the meantime, can you let us know if you have upgraded from a previous version of MailSecurity 9 (beta)?
If you did, can you perform the following:
1. Go to <ContentSecurityFolder>\<MailSecurityFolder>\ 2. Rename config<date>_0.mdb (or similar) to config.mdb. 3. To make sure it doesn't happen again, open config.mdb, dledb table and change the dbbackend path to something else (default in new builds is <ContentSecurityFolder>\<MailSecurityFolder>\data\reports.mdb)
Please inform us of the results.

Hello,
i'm having the exact same problem.
Win2k SP4 uninstalled MS8.1 installed MS9 in new folder stop services ran the MS8.1 to MS9 upgrade utility upgrade utility completed with no errors completed the SP4 KB discriped during installation restarted all the services including rebooting
i have zipped the support folder created by the troubleshooter and emailed it to support@gfi.com
i'm noticing files being quarantined and i have no options to approve them, how can i recover it?
is there a offline non web base configuration utility like MS8.1 that i can use before this web base client is fixed?
Please provide any type of work around to this or how i can go back to MS8.1 recovering the quarantined files.
Thanks, [ August 07, 2005, 02:23 PM: Message edited by: DavidChyan ]

Hi,
We are still checking this issue. If you encounter this problem, please send the following information to support@gfi.com, and reference this forum post in your email.
1. Send us a screen shot of the error that you are getting?
2. Can you let us know if you have upgraded from a previous build/version of MailSecurity? What upgrade path did you follow?
3. We would also require debug information on the error that you are getting. Can you please do the following:
a. Browse to <GFI\ContentSecurity\WwwConf\>
b. Open web.config with a text editor (e.g. notepad)
c. Find the section:
<customErrors mode="On"> <error statusCode="500" redirect="~/pages/warning.htm"/> </customErrors>
d. Change <customErrors mode="On"> to <customErrors mode="Off">
e. Reload the page
f. The error displayed shows much more information and will surely help us identify the problem better. You just need to send us a screen shot of the Internet Explorer window (or copy the text to a word document) and send it to us.
4. Send us the files in <GFI\ContentSecurity\wwwconf\debuglogs>? Please zip up the files before sending them to me.
5. Send us also the troubleshooter files? These files contain important information, which will help us to troubleshoot further your issue. The troubleshooter files can be generated by running troubleshooter.exe from <GFI\ContentSecurity\MailSecurity\troubleshooter>. Please answer the questions set by the troubleshooter as accurately as possible. Once the troubleshooter program is finished, it will create a number of files under the <GFI\ContentSecurity\MailSecurity\Support> directory. Compress all support directory in one zip file and send it over to us for analysis.
Thank you.

Hi Guys,
I think I may have solved this little issue. It simmilar to a problem I've had with other .Net APPS.
For IIS6 (ie, Windows 2003) The problem is that the ASP.NET AppPool user does NOT have the required permissions to the ASP.NET Temp dir (C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files). For most setups, the GFI APP will use the IIS "DefaultAppPool" which uses the identity of "Network Service". If you add Read-Write permissions to the "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files" directory the this fixes the issue (in my case anyway).
Hope this helps.
PS. Thanks "nicks" for pointing me to disable the custom error message. This gave me the idea to check this permission.
Regards,
