Hi, After succesfully upgrade my system from 4.1 to 4.2 b20091014 some Windows XP workstations started rebooting... the problem only solved when the agent was uninstalled.
Windows Vista wkst did not have the issue.
Anyone had this problem? Any solution?
Tks All...
Sergio

srponte,

Could you please tell us exactly what version of Windows XP are you having on the machines with the restart problem? How exactly do they restart, is there a BSOD generated before or not? Moreover, if you could provide us with some dump or minidump files created after the crash it would be extremely helpful in order we can check out the issues.

Thanks!

Hello,

Please first check out and set your system to generate minidump files as follows:

- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click System.
- Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
- In the Write debugging information list, click Small memory dump (64k).

To change the folder location for the small memory dump files, type a new path in the Dump File box (or in the Small dump directory box, depending on your version of Windows).

After you set up the folder where the dumps are stored and the dump type, please reproduce the crash. Once the system restarts, either displays you with a dialog of error information and letting you know the path where the dump was saved or you can go directly to the folder that you have previously specified for dumps and provide us with the latest dump from there.

Uploading the file to our FTP server is detailed in the following thread:
http://forums.gfi.com/General_Information/m_900731045/tm.htm

Please let us know about the path on our FTP once you managed to upload the file(s).

Thanks!

Hi Zolll,

Tks again for the answer, but I am glad to tell the problem is solved!

Some XP computers went crazy after deploy the new Endpoint 4.2 client. The error message was " THREAD ERROR: Not enough server storage is available to process this command"

I contacted GFI support and they help me finding a solution, it is just change/add a registry key. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/177078/

Best Regards,

Sergio

Sergio,

Thanks for the info. Please notice that we have already found some memory-related issues in the EndPointSecurity agent which are very likely to cause the problems you are experiencing (mostly on OS which have limited amount of kernel memory such as your Windows XP machines). We still have to test the new patch and it will be released soon.

I will keep you updated once we have the new patch ready.

Thanks for your help and patience!

Dear Sergio,

We have analyzed the memory dumps which you sent to us.

One of the dumps contains a small issue found in the 4.1 agent regarding the protection of the files. The problem is solved when We will provide you with the patch once the testing is completed.
The other mini dumps were not related to our EndPointSecurity agent, they were problems in other software.

Thanks again!
