Hi, I have some question regarding the File Type Filter - If i have set permission for users to access Storage Devices, but in the File Type filter set to block .exe for the domain users group. So If a Permitted user to access storage devices, plugged in his USB flash memory and this flash memory had an .exe file, will he be able to run this .exe file ?
- will he be able to copy this .exe file to the desktop
- If at his home machine he renamed the .exe file to an extension with .txt, then copied it to his flash disk, then came to company machine and plugged his usb disk. Will he be able to copy the .txt file to his desktop ?
Thanks, Tarek

In order to use the file type filter you need to control both USB and Storage Devices. The File type filter will not function properly if this is not enabled. Also, the file type filter should prevent the user from copying, moving, or otherwise getting the file onto the desktop to be run. At this time, the software does not look at the file type itself, instead it does look at the file extension. An end user could rename the file extension to .txt and then move the file onto the desktop.
