DOMAIN SCAN ISSUE - 17.Jan.2008 12:41:41 PM

Hello,
I'm running LNSS version 8, build 20070525.  I'm trying to run a scan on my domain for missing patches.  We are only licensed for 50.  In previous versions, I could simply place a check in the box for the first 50 in my domain and run the scan.  What seems to be happening now when I select the first 50,  it will only scan the first 12 or so.  If I run it again, it will only scan perhaps 2.  The quantity varies from scan to scan. Any ideas why this is happening?   I never encountered this with version 7.

Thanks
Dan

Hello,

Can you please perform the following tests:

1. Within the LNSS Configuration, click on the [+] sign near the domain you would like to scan
2. Can you please clarify all the machines are listed?

Can you also please try and perform a domain scan and check if the following text file contains all the machines within your domain:

<GFI\LANguard Network Security Scanner 8.0\Data\domain_list.txt>

Thank you!

yes, all the machines are listed.  They also are contained in the domain_list.txt file.  I select them all, and then uncheck the 3 servers,( I like to scan those separatley) It goes thru the resolving hosts steps and only list a few of the computers.  The scan I'm currently running at the time of this post, only lists 13 machines, but I checked many more.

Is there a setting that needs to be enabled on the PC being scanned?  I'm thinking perhaps I'm only getting responses from the computers that have this setting enabled.

Hi,

Can you ensure ensure that no AntiVirus / Firewall is blocking the connection from the Client Machine Side?

Also, you might want to review the following kbase article:

Thank you!
