One of our end users is sending out multiple attachments. They are sending out two Word documents, An Excel spreadsheet and two PDF files. The user opens a new email, inserts and attaches the files within the email and sends. On our server it shows that it begins to convert, but then apparently stalls at some point. Each time they attempt to send out a fax, they receive a 1701 Conversion Timeout. I have checked that each of the above mentioned applications are on the system and functional. Also the Faxmaker print driver and port correctly and is set as the default. Also I checked to ensure that there are no size restrictions on attachments on our Exchange server. Any ideas on why it keeps timing out. Description: Attachment conversion failed : 1701 ********************************************************* 1701 : Document Conversion Timeout. Ensure that the FAXmaker printer driver on the server machine is installed on the GFIFAX port and is set up as default printer. Check that the application program is installed on the server and that there is association to print with the files.

mharri, Please make sure that you have excell and Word installed on the Faxserver that is the same or greater version of office that your users are using.

All of our users have Office 2000. So does our fax server. That is why this is so puzzling.

I am not exactly sure why, but it appears to be working now. A couple of things that I did that might account for the fix is going after some available service packs. This may or may not have been the deciding factor, but looks like a possibility.

I guess I spoke too soon. It seems to work for one type of file. For instance, if you send a Word document it seems to work fine, but if you combine file types like between Word, Excel, and PDF it comes back with a Conversion Error 1701.

What is strange is that I can send separately a Word Doc, Excel or a PDF File and it succeeds with no trouble at all. But once I try to combine all three formats into an email to send as a fax, it comes back with a Conversion Error 1701. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks.

When sending three different file types, the just fax sits in the Fax Queue, but never advances beyond that. Individually they send. I can send two file types of any combination between Word, Excel and PDF, but cannot send all three at the same time. I read on GFI's website where it was said that this problem was fixed in version 14.1, but apparently there is still some circumstance where the problem exists. I have the latest version to my knowledge (14.1, Build 20080208).
