It appears that the new build of LANguard NSS v9 (build 20090709) has changed the way patch observations are saved in the exported XML. Previously, missing patches were saved under an “alert” section. Now, it appears there is a “hotfix” section that seems to save installed (rather than missing) patches. Missing patches don’t appear to be saved in any part of the XML file, though the HTML report does show the missing patches for a host. Problem is, we’ve been using NSS for several years and our primary use has been to obtain a list of missing patches for each host from the XML output. We don’t have a way to do that now. In the mean time, we’ve reverted back to the previous build (build 20090313). Could you please provide an explanation/solution for this? Is this just how GFI NSS will work going forward? Thanks!

Actually, looking a little closer, this seems like a bigger problem. Reloading the XML to LANguard doesn't retain the missing patch findings. So, they are completely lost. This isn't just an issue with how the new version tracks missing patches... missing patches are totally lost if exported to XML. GIF, please fix this issue. Thanks!

Will you please open a support request online at http://support.gfi.com/Support/support.aspx?lcode=en so we can further investigate this issue?
