I'm sure I'm missing something very simple and obvious here, in which case feel free to laugh at me.

I cannot connect to MA4 with the bulk export tool. I am running it on the MA server but the URL I enter is not accepted. I've tried it fully qualified and unqualified. I've tried it as http://127.0.0.1.... I've opened the MA interface in IE on the server and copied the URL across but I always get a "404 - Not found" error when connecting using the Bulk Export tool.

So, what am I doing wrong? MA is working perfectly normally and is accessible from the server and remotely.

I've now tried copying the bulk export folder to my workstation with the same result. "404: Not found" when connecting. Yes, the URL is definitely correct.

Hi

Do you have multiple web sites hosted on your IIS by a chance? Do you use any proxy (e.g. ISA) that may affect HTTP redirection?

No to both I'm afraid. The server hosts only MA and everything is within our intranet so no proxy involved.

Hello AMacdonald,

Can you please verify the version and build of MailArchiver that you are running?
Also, is this the only MailArchiver installation in your network?

Kind regards,

Hi

I suggest you try the following URL from the browser on the MAR machine:

http://localhost/mailarchiver/services/search.asmx

This should open a search service interface page. From there click "Connect" and then "Invoke".
Let us know the result and any error messages you will encounter

We are running MA4 build 20070616 and have only a single server.

The link posted above gives the same 404 error. However, a slightly modified link for our installation where the root is nwwmailarchive, http://localhost/nwwmailarchive/services/search.asmx gives the following:

Client found response content type of 'text/plain; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.
The request failed with the error message:
--
System.InvalidOperationException: Services/Store.asmx Web Service method name is not valid.
  at System.Web.Services.Protocols.HttpServerProtocol.Initialize()
at System.Web.Services.Protocols.ServerProtocolFactory.Create(Type type, HttpContext context, HttpRequest request, HttpResponse response, Boolean& abortProcessing)

Which is, at least, a nice change.

For the benefit of anybody that might have the same issue, the bulk exporter will only work with a URL in the format http://server/website so, in our case http://nwwmailarchive/archive would work but http://nwwmailarchive/archive/main.aspx would not. I have requested that the documentation be made clearer for a future release.
