I have a number of event sources which I need to remove, but they are no longer listed as sources under Configuration -> Event Sources; how do I go about removing them?

I found an earlier post of the same subject where a GFI support representative asked to have the 'Event Sources.xml.gz' file sent to him along with the names of the servers that should be removed, but it would be good if we could do this ourselves.

Failing that, hopefully a GFI support rep will reply to this.

Cheers,
Chris

The information is likely stored in the file above. You can edit the file manually with the right tools:

We would recommend a copy of "XML Marker" to edit the XML File, and a GZIP decompression utility (such as 7-Zip.) You would extract the .gz file, edit the XML contents, then re-compress the XML file to a .gz file.

However, if you wish for us to edit this for you please submit the request online at http://support.gfi.com/Support/support.aspx?lcode=en so we can best assist you.

Thanks for that Drew, I've managed to remove the entries for the sources I wanted to remove, but now when I add them back inm EventsManager says we have exceeded our license count.  Is there something else that needs to be edited?  I can send the file as you mentioned above, but thought it might be useful to others to know how to sort themselves.

Cheers,
Chris

Chris,

Yes, please contact us at the link above so we can further investigate this file. Once the case is resolved the resolution can be posted here.

Problem resolved by replacing the 'Event Sources.xml.gz' with a clean version of the file supplied by GFI support, then adding the sources back in.

Slightly frustrating, but at least the problem is resolved.
