Hi all, I am trying to uninstall GFI Mail Security 10 build 20060721 to update to latest build. But it keeps prompting for the file 'GFI MailSecurity for ExchangeSMTP.msi'. The default location specified is "C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1.xxx\LOCALS~1\Temp\_is514\". I have tried to uninstall via Add/remove programs, but same issue. I've done a search for the old file but cant seem to find it. It most probably been deleted and I don't have the original file. I have the same issue for GFI Mail Essential 12 build 20060628 where it asks for the old install msi Is there any way to download the older builds or manually uninstall the program? Thanks in advance.

I was able to update Mail Essential by using the extracted .msi from new installer. I've tried the same trick with Mail Security but to no avail. Error message i get is " The File "filename" is not a valid instalation package for the product GFI Mail Security for Exchange/SMTP. Try to find the installation package 'GFI MailSecurity fr ExchangeSMTP.msi' in a folder you can install GFI MailSecurity for Exchange/SMTP". If I cancel the installation, I get 'Error 1714. The older version of GFI MailSecurity for Exchange/SMTP can not be removed. Contact your technical support group'

Hello fuzzdude, You might want to try the following: 1. Make sure the latest Windows Scripting Host is installed. 2. Log on to the machine locally (not via RDP). 3. Copy the ContentSecurity folder to the Desktop (as a backup) and run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301 in order to remove MailSecurity. If all goes well the ContentSecurity Folder should still be present. If this is not the case, please copy the backed up one back to the directory where MailSecurity was installed. Then install the new build of MailSecurity in the same installation path as it was previously installed in. It is very important that you install in the same directory in order to maintain your settings. Hope this helps. Kind regards,

Thank Jan for your help. It was kind of a nightmare uninstalling Mail Security. I had follow your steps and also manually remove the following before it would let me re-install GFI MS. - GFI Mail Security Services (use the sc delete command)
- remove the old GFI MS websites from IIS
- remove the VSAPI reg key for exchange.
