Hello, Well it's all in the thread title, I just can't do it despite all my button pushing, policy tweaking and agent deploying. I installed EndpointSecurity on 2 different servers and for some reason, I just can't seam to block CD / DVD writings. I can block have floppy units read ony. Same for media storage but no matter what I do, users can still burn and erase cds. I guess there must be a way to achieve this behaviour and if somebody knows it, than please help me. I hope somebody can offer some support here because I've spent the last two days on this very issue and this is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance, - Stéphane

Hi again, I didn't quite expect much feedback this weekend but I would still like to hear about whoever has got this working. I'd be surprised I am the only one here needing to prevent users from burning cds and obviously, this feature must work since I can't find any topic dealing with this sort of problem on here. So yes, if somebody here could achieve this, well then please, tell me about it. Thanks.

I got this working w/ the latest build of EPS v4. Forgot the build# but it should be the latest that I downloaded from GFi. Were U able to deploy the agent onto the client? w or w/o any error? After deployment, what does the status show? A little background abt my test lab: Server is running W2K3R2 SP2 Server is a member server of a domain Client is running WinXP Pro SP2 but logged in using a local account. Not AD user object! Using the local account crendentials allowed me to deploy the agent successfully & locked down CD/DVD.

Thank you very much but this is not helping me much since I was able to successfully deploy agents on all machines but for some reason, agents consistently fail to lock DVD units. Actually, I can deny read access to these units but I can't seem to deny full access to them. The Log browsers says Full Access Denied which sounds great but surprisingly, users can still burn cdroms. This looks like a bug to me so I would like to read about the support team. Thank you.

Hello Stephane, In this scenario it might be best if you submitted a support request on our online form here - http://support.gfi.com/supportrequestform.asp so that we can further examine this issue.

Actually, I've been trying to achieve this forever but it seems to me it's impossible. http://support.gfi.com/supportrequestform.asp requires that you have a Cutomer ID. I go "sure let's do it" and push the button below : Note: Purchased products must be registered to be entitled to support. http://www.gfi.com/pages/regfrm.htm has a big red link that says "Follow this link to create GFI user account and register your product" which is exactly what I'm trying to do. So I push it. https://customers.gfi.com/login.aspx gives existing customers opportunity to log in but I don't have login info yet so I push the red button saying "New customers order here". I don't want to order online since I already own the product but there is no suitable option there. https://customers.gfi.com/cart/default.aspx lets me fill a long form then I get asked which GFI product I am to purchase. So I quit. Either I miss a link somewhere or there is no way to register once product on your site. Please let me know how I can register my product so that I have access to the bug report page. Thank you. - Stéphane Schmit
