Features in GFI MailArchiver 6 for Exchange Service (build 20080828) include :
  • Outlook integration – Users can now access their archived messages from Microsoft Outlook using the GFI MailArchiver Outlook Connector
  • User mailbox folder synchronisation – Users can browse their messages from both Microsoft Outlook and Web UI using their familiar mailbox folder structure
Email Hash generation Tool – This tool can be used to update old GFI MailArchiver Archive Stores so that these messages can be matched up with those in the Microsoft Exchange user mailbox by the User Mailbox Folder Synchronisation process.  Note that this tool will only be effective if the messages are still available in Microsoft Exchange
  • New distributed deployment role (User mailbox synchronisation)
  • Newly indexed messages can be retrieved by searching by folder
  • Support to download messages in Outlook (.msg) format
  • Indexes can be paused (Administrators can pause indexing on particular indexes for maintenance purposes)
  • Administrator can select the Indexing Analyser specific to the company locale during installation.

Known Issues:
  • Distributed deployment: Folder synchronisation process fails to synchronise emails if not all GFI MailArchiver roles are installed on servers in the same time zone
  • Microsoft Outlook Connector fails to show recent emails if client machines and server are not in the same time zone
  • Core\Temp folder may contain a lot of ExchangePerflog_* files.  These are created by Exchange MAPI and should be deleted automatically.  Failure of such event can be correct by adding the following key in Core\Data\product.config file:
    <add key=”DeleteExchangePerflog” value=”true” />
In this case, GFI MailArchiver will delete these files every hour.

Notes:
  • The setting up of GFI MailArchiver 6 to use with the Outlook Connector and User Mailbox folder synchronisation is not straight forward due to constraint imposed by the technology involved.  To make it easy for setting it up, a Quick Start Guide is provided which describes all the steps required in order to successfully install and deploy the product
  • In order to successfully place sent messages in their correct folder, Microsoft Outlook must be configured in non-cached mode as described in the Quick Start Guide
  • Only folder synchronisation from Exchange user mailboxes is supported
  • Email messages are only visible in one folder.

The new GFI MailArchiver 6 (build 20080828) can be downloaded from the following locations:

If installing on x86 version of the Microsoft Windows operating system, you need to download the x86 version of GFI MailArchiver 6:
http://software.gfi.com/mailarchiver6.exe

If installing on x64 version of the Microsoft Windows operating system, then you need to download the x64 version of GFI MailArchiver 6:
http://software.gfi.com/mailarchiver6_x64.exe

Please note that archive stores created by the GFI MailArchiver 5 RTM and GFI MailArchiver 5 SR1 builds need to be upgraded. To upgrade the existing archive stores open Configuration->”Archive Stores” page, click the "Edit Settings” button next to each archive store and complete the Database Wizard.  Then open Configuration -> "Mail Servers to Archive” and activate archiving for each journaling location.#

More Information about this build can be found at: http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID003385

  • FIXED: Outlook Connector - Outlook crashes on some computers where older version of MAPI is installed.

Changes within this release include:
  • NEW: Added policy settings to centrally configure GFI MailArchiver Outlook Connector through Active Directory Group Policies.  The new parameters are Data Path Root, Synchronize Days Span, Messages Batch Size and Connection Timeout (See KBID003490 for further details.)
  • FIXED: E-mail resolution now escapes special characters used in LDAP queries. Such characters are forward slash, back slash, parentheses and asterisk. This is done to prevent errors when resolving incorrectly composed email addresses, e.g. when display name is enclosed in parentheses (as opposed to quotes) and contains a comma.
  • FIXED: E-mail addresses in Active Directory with extra white spaces are not correctly processed.
  • FIXED: E-mails imported from EEwiz are not synchronized correctly.
  • FIXED: EEwiz - Support for folder paths with . / \ ?
  • FIXED: Folder Synchronization – E-mails addressed to Distribution Lists are not allocated to the proper folder.
  • FIXED: If MArc.Store.exe process is restarted while GFI MailArchiver Outlook Connectors are online, the latter will re-synchronize the whole cache.
  • FIXED: MA2Export tool - Application crashes as soon as it starts to download compressed emails.
  • FIXED: Outlook Connector – When forwarding an e-mail from the GFI MailArchiver Inbox (Outlook Connector) to an external e-mail address, the recipient receives the e-mail without the attachment.
  • FIXED: Outlook Connector – When forwarding an e-mail from the GFI MailArchiver Inbox (Outlook Connector) a Non Delivery Report (NDR) is generated by Microsoft Exchange and the message is not received by the recipient. This issue only happens in a Microsoft Exchange 2007 environment.
  • FIXED: Outlook Connector - Outlook crash when opening certain attachments on Vista machines.
  • FIXED: Outlook Connector – Fixed sort criteria order (A and a are now treated the same).
  • FIXED: Outlook Connector – E-mails in Archive Stores marked as 'Do not allow user browsing' can be accessed from Outlook Connector.
  • FIXED: The main page of the GFI MailArchiver Web UI would not be loaded correctly in Firefox or Safari web browsers. Note that only Microsoft Internet Explorer is officially supported by GFI MailArchiver.
  • FIXED: Using Firebird archive stores, manager access of more than 40 subordinates is not returning all data.
  • FIXED: When a mailbox contains an e-mail with a Message ID greater than 255 characters, the User Mailbox Folder Synchronization may halt and as a result, no other mailboxes will be synchronized.
  • UPDATE: Added more robustness to the Folder Synchronisation proccess.
