Block ZIP without blocking DOCX?

Status: offline 		Running latest build of MailSecurity, I am currently blocking all ZIP files but this also causes DOCX files to get blocked with the following message:

File "test.docx" was blocked because of an extension related to the detected file type "ZIP"

I would like to be able to let the DOCX files through (but still have them scanned by the other scanners to ensure they are safe). But I want all ZIP files blocked for the moment.

Is there a way to do this? I have tried the registry hack described here...

... and rebooted but it doesn't work. This hack DOES work for files that are detected as a different type but in my case the file is not detected as a different type. It says it is "related" to another type???

Status: offline 		Update... had some weird issues so rebooted a second time and now DOCX files are coming through ok so it does seem like that registry hack works. Good to know.

HOWEVER, my next question is... by allowing DOCX files through in this manner (as described in the KB article) are they still being scanned for threats? I would hope they are being accepted and then scanned. Rather than being allowed to bypass the scanners.

Can anyone from GFI confirm how this works? Thanks.

This will still pass through the Trojan/Executable scanner as well as the virus scanning engines.
