Semi new to using Languard. But what I am wanting to do is set up Languard to roll out patches automaticly. It seams from using the product that I need to manualy lauch languard, run the scans then push, and perhaps download new patchs, then install them..

Is there any way to do all of this automatically say to happen once a week???

not in version 3.x, no. You can do scheduled scans and whatnot, but no you can't do scheduled pushes like that.

Not sure if they plan on changing that for 4.0 or not. if/when I finally see an early alpha/beta of it I'll try to post back on this one.

Part of the issue as I see it, is that you still have to download all of the patches each time. There would have to be something that would auto pull the patches too and a lot of other issues.

In my opinion it is setup more to do a check after the fact to verify that patches are being installed, and if missing to be able to push it. I can see the thought about doing it all automated, just not sure how feasible that is.

And for that matter, at least with 2000/XP you can just set the autoupdate feature yourself to autodownload/install. Granted I have seen issues where after windows update/auto installer goes that a scan via LNSS shows some .dll's are incorrect (patch MS03-043 and 44 or 40 and 43, 2 of them in the low 40's area).

Anyway, if/when I see anything more on 4.0 I'll try to remember to post back on this thread.

Eric,

Thanks for your post. I took forward ot seeing what 4.0 can do for me. It does seam a bit silly that you can not schedule this or even run a scan and do a push from command line.

perhaps, but it wasn't what the utility was orignally designed for, was made to test how well or how patched you currently are. (At least in my opinion)

Anyway, we'll see what 4.0 brings.
