If I copy a message to the MailArchiver mailbox and it's processed, and then I copy the message over again, does MailArchiver make a duplicate record? Or does it identify the message as a duplicate and not process it?

I'd like to add mail to the MailArchiver archive from user's archive PST folders through drag and drop in Outlook. But I don't want all the distribution list messages and internal e-mail to have multiple records in MailArchiver.

Yes, if you copy message directly to archiving location then duplicate record will be added. Duplicate messages however are always grouped in the same thread.

That is the way how it works. Message-ID is not that unique, it may be forged to avoid archiving

However when normal archiving through Exchange journaling takes place then multi-recipients emails are archived only once. Make sure to use Envelope Journaling if you wish to parse distribution lists and BCC recipients
