Archiving old emails - 18.Apr.2008 5:20:37 AM

Hello everybody,

I have a problem with importing emails from exchange.
My goals is like for many of us: to archive old emails in exchange mailboxes before MailArchiver was installed.

So, to do so, i have read the manual:
1 First step: i have set my SQL datastore ("MailsBefore2008") with "GFI MailArchiver Import service Configuration"
2 Second step: i use "GFI PST-Exchange Email export" tool to extract email from exchange mailbox.

What happens is that "GFI PST-Exchange Email export" process very well my mailboxes. I can view the processed items in folder "c:\Program Files\GFI\mailArchiver\eewiz" but the problem is:

I cannot found these processed items in "MailsBefore2008", in another words, my datastore is empty !!!!!

What is the problem ?

Anyhelp is greatly appreciated

Thanks

PS: Windows server 2003 SP2, exchange server 2003 SP2, GFI MailArchiver 5 on the same server
SQL server on another server but same active directory

Hello dalarcon,

When you export the mails from the mailboxes and would like to import them into the MailArchiver database 'MailsBefore2008' you need to export them directly to the MailArchiver\MAIS\Pickup folder after you have configured this database in the 'Import Service Configuration' with the correct date range.
At the moment you seem to have exported them to the MailArchiver\eewiz folder.

You might want to have a look at the bottom of the following page: http://support.gfi.com/manuals/en/mar5/mar5manual.1.50.html#9001646.

Most probably you can copy the exported items from the MailArchiver\eewiz folder and paste them into the MailArchiver\MAIS\Pickup folder.
When doing so, please do this in 'small' batches and make sure the items get processed.

Items placed in the MAIS\Pickup folder will be automatically archived to the database you have set up in the 'Import Service Configuration' respecting the date range you have configured for this database.

Kind regards,
