I had a user that got a few messages from an outside sender, but missed a few messages in the middle. When I did message track I got an error on 2 messages that said: SMTP: messages submitted to advanced queuing SMTP: started message submission to advanced queue SMTP: Advanced queue failed to deliver message. I'm wondering if I'm missing any other messages. I'm running Mailessentials 12 with the latest build on a single Exchange 2003 box with all available updates.

Hello Eric, Please have a look at http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID003276. Is it possible that the messages in the middle have been detected as spam and were redirected to a folder? Can you check if any of the Anti Spam modules have this action configured and if so check the respective folders? Please also check the Global Actions location (found under Anti Spam > Properties > Global Actions tab). Hope this helps. Kind regards,

I put suspected SPAM messages in either the end user's junk email folder or forward them to a SPAM mailbox and keep them for 2 weeks. The messages weren't in either place. Under Global Actions I have it set to delete for SPAM messages sent to users that don't exist on the server. Eric

Hello Eric, Do you have any other software installed that 'checks' e-mail traffic (AV)? Please also check the GFI Monitor when message tracking reports these errors. Do the e-mails that never seem to arrive show up in the monitor and does it state 'Item processed ok' right after the messag if it does show them? The last location I can suggest to check is the FailedMails folder under the MailEssentials directory. Do you find any items in this folder? Kind regards,

We have Symantec Mail Security for Exchange installed also. It usually takes a couple of days for my users to realize that they didn't receive a message. By then it is too late to check GFI Monitor. Is there a way to look at the GFI monitor for messages a few days old? My FailedMails folder is empty. Eric

Hello Eric, The GFI Monitor is designed to hold a maximum of 5 MB of data. Unfortunately, when you send/receive a large amount of e-mails you won't find the onces from a couple of days ago. If I understand you correctly, the e-mails can't be found in one of the Action locations configured in MailEssentials, under Global Actions or the FailedMails folder. In that case I have to conclude that MailEssentials is probably not at fault. MailEssentials does not delete e-mails unless configured to do so. Did you also check your other software? Kind regards,

I'm getting this issue where replication 'status request' messages between two exchange server is being blocked. In my case our global action was set to save to the hard disk. However I tried changing the spam treatment to ‘forward’ to a public folder email address but the message still fails to be delivered and is now sent to the spam public folder. The previously mentioned KB doesn’t indicate what to do to resolve this issue. I’m not sure if this is a GFI or an exchange problem. Any ideas what I should do about this?

I was able to get around this by adding the server email address (servername-is@domain.com) into the whitelist.
