Hi, There has been a slight delay due to an issue that has been discovered in the last minute. We are expecting to release MailEssentials 14.1 SR1 on Thursday 5th November. In the meantime, the patches that have been released for the current release of MailEssentials 14.1 can be downloaded from http://forums.gfi.com/Patch_Information_-_GFI_MailEssentials_14%251_build_20090826/m_900781227/tm.htm

I installed SR1 early this morning, and it has failed. The x86 version (build 20091027) GFI Installer completed the cycle of uninstalling GFI Mail Essentials and then produced the GFI Installation Wizard with only a "Cancel" button. ME has now been uninstalled and my SMTP gateway is unprotected. It's unclear what registry settings have been modified, but most of the files in Program Files are still there. The Installation Wizard, while it presents only a "Cancel" button, is entirely unresponsive (now 1.5 hours later). The GFIInstall app and msiexec are present in the Task Manager. My setup is: Dell PE 1950, Dual Xeon, 4GB RAM. Windows Server 2003 R2-SP2 running MS SMTP. The server is a perimeter SMTP gateway that relays inbound and outbound to and from a non-Exchange internal mailbox server (IMail). I don't know any more than that at this point. Since GFI is only open during daytime business hours, I am still waiting for them to begin providing support to learn whether I should reboot or perform some other gymnastics in order to get back to the near-stable August '09 build. I am afraid to reboot or force processes to end until GFI has a chance to see what the heck has happened. I will definitely urge them to pull SR-1 immediately until they've taken the time to perform the final testing and peer review required to release a stable product. I will also severly punish myself for installing software on the day of its release, well in advance of its field testing and ensuing business interruption by other brave victims. WHAT WAS I THINKING!!??

UPDATE: I've found the mailessentials 20090826 files are in the beta area for some reason, here. I've downloaded and checked that it is correct. Please download from here in the first instance to save my bandwidth and to get it in 10 minutes instead of the 1hr+ from my client's! I have uploaded a copy of the 20090826 ME 14.1, as it is not in the GFI Old Builds repository. Please be gentle, as there's a 200kbit/s limit on this server, so it will take more than an hour to download. x64 here.

I'm having the exact same problem, except that I was able to abort the installation (by killing the process) and return to the previous version because I keep backups of all previous install files. Anyway, I'm running on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4 VM, with 4GB RAM and 8GB free disk space. Exchange is hosted on a separate VM.

There have been a number of reports whereby the splash screen for the installer comes up, however there is no next button. In these cases, please follow the procedure below: 1. Open Task Manager 2. Go to processes tab and sort by name 3. You should find multiple processes for MSIExec.exe 4. Terminate the one taking most CPU and RAM usage. At this stage the screen should refresh, and the installation completes successfully. We are currently working on this issue from a development standpoint but wanted to get the workaround out to anyone that may need it.
