I am trying to use the beta with ReportCenter 3.5 Is this the correct software to use? I am not permitted to connect my test environment to the internet and had to guess as to what sould work from the FTP site. I am trying to get the scheduler to generate a report unattended yet have no output in the target directory? The report will run from the custom report tab just not from the scheduler tab.

The ESM ReportPack is in BETA which also requires the BETA of the latest build of GFI ReportCenter 3.5.

(1) Uninstall your present ReportCenter Build from the Add/Remove Programs.
(2) Download the BETA build of GFI ReportCenter 3.5 from http://software.gfi.com/beta/reportcenter35.exe
(3) Install the ReportCenter 3.5
(4) Try to reproduce again.

Let us know how it goes,

I uninstalled the report pack successfully but when I tried to uninstall the report framework the system errored out and indicated that I had chosen to exit the uninstall process. I tried system restore... no help. In addition, I got the same results when I tried to install the report framework you have referenced over the previous one. FYI... the framework executable msi that you referenced and the one that I used are the same size. I am currently re-imaging my testing workstation to install fresh. The only redeeming point that I currently have is that my testing data is captured on my SQL server.

The scheduled reports appear that they are not executing due to a domain login failure from the workstation vice an actual user. I can, however, email and export manually from the default reports area. In the scheduled reports area I get Information messages for "Starting to generate....", Generating scheduled...." followed by the Error message "Could not generate scheduled report: Login failed for user domain\hostname$ . I am sure there is an easy fix for this and I just don't know it.

Hi Mark, thanks for posting your query here.

The problem resulted from the fact that you uninstalled the ReportPack manually rather  that just uninstalling (and upgrading) the ReportCenter framework. Below you will find a workaround to solve your problem. In the meantime please note that we are working on a new build that will solve the issue you pointed out so similar situations will be catered for in future builds.

From your description it seems that currently you only have the RC Framework installed (without a ReportPack). The following steps should help you solve your issue :

(1) Install ESM ReportPack again (over your current RC framework). If you don't have the installation file you can download it again from http://software.gfi.com/beta/eventsmanager7rp.exe

(2) Uninstall the RC Framework using add/remove programs.
(3) When prompted about RPs still being installed, choose to continue uninstalling the framework.
(4)
At this point, uninstall of the Framework should complete successfully.
(5) Install ReportCenter Framework using <reportcenter35.exe>. If you don't have it you can download it again from http://software.gfi.com/beta/reportcenter35.exe
(6) At this point you should have both the new ReportCenter framework and the ReportPack installed.

Hope that solves your issue. Please let us know how it goes. Thanks.

Success... sort of...  Previously EventsManager and ReportCenter were installed on a system other than the SQL server. When I installed these 2 items directly on the SQL server everything began to work as expected.

Hello again,

Glad you managed to solved part of the problem. However please note that both EventsManager7 and its ReportPack are designed to support connections with a remote SQL server. Thus the failed login problem you are facing seems to be related to the lack of administrative rights on the SQL server machine.

In order to confirm this, you can try to access a share on the SQL server from the machine on which ReportCenter returns a login failure. To do this you can try accessing  \\SQL_hostname\C$ and check if you get a windows dialogue box asking for login credentials. If you do, then enter the login credentials,
and immediately afterwards try to execute a scheduled report again. The scheduled report service should now be able to use the cached credentials on your machine. Let us know how it goes.

In case you still have problems it would also help if you send us some debug logs generated by your ReportCenter installation (where you had the login problem). You can do this by using the troubleshooter provided with your installation as follows:

(1) Run the troubleshooter application "Start > Programs > GFI ReportCenter > ReportCenter Troubleshooter".
(2) Browse to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\GFI\ReportCenter\Framework v3.5\support" folder.
(3) Zip the contents of this folder and send them to us by Email on feedbackesm@gfi.com. You may also submit use the feedback form provided here:
http://beta.gfi.com/eventsmanager7/feedbackform.asp

Thank you & looking forward to your feedback.

Hi,
I just wanted to point out that we have issued a new KBase related to your problem.
"Why am I getting an SQL login failure when running scheduled reports?"
